It is business as usual for us, just on a smaller scale….for now!Īs always, we truly want to thank each and every one of you for standing by us through the years we could not have made it without all of your support. We will do the best we can to persevere this stage. It seems right now we are facing another unknown. This loan enabled us to continue providing services to all while everything was so unknown. Yes, while all the businesses were receiving grants our option was to take out a LOAN. In the beginning of COVID we did receive a $ 48,000 LOAN from the county we are still responsible for. With no funding, how are we to help community members? As a 100% volunteer nonprofit we do not qualify for typical grants. This decision to work remotely does not come lightly and has been tossed around for the last couple months. We will continue to work with clients only as funding allows. In our usual fashion of being transparent, we are letting you know we have decided to close our Doylestown office and only work remotely. Honestly, we constantly have a stack of intakes that are all deserving of assistance that we are unable to assist due to lack of funding. Every dollar is truly appreciated, however it has not been enough to even put a dent in all of our clients needs. With that said, Between Friends Outreach has experienced a drastic decrease in donations. Everyone has the ability to make a difference. It can come in basic acts of kindness, actually listening to others, and of course a financial hand up at times. There just doesn’t seem to be enough with the crisis our country is in right now with inflation and complete lack of affordable housing right in our community.Įvery single person has the ability to help another succeed. The bigger the crowd, the less likely that each individual is willing to personally help.Īlthough there are some great organizations out there assisting people in need, some that truly care and seem to do what they say. We know most of you have thought about donating and then said, "Somebody else will do it."Įver heard of the bystander effect? It refers to a phenomenon in which someone is in an emergency situation alongside other people and they assume that someone else will help, so they choose to do nothing.
