It’s understandable for it to be warm during a Florida summer, but it was almost unbearable. To top off this very poor experience, the room was extremely hot. As an aside, our team did escape with 6 minutes left however, they may as well have just given the win to the game master as we were able to compete very little of the work. Our team was becoming increasingly frustrated during this process as we have all done numerous escape rooms in the past and would much rather fail the room on our own then be told every step without the opportunity to figure it out. When clues in the game WERE legible, we were repeatedly given prompts without asking from our game master. Another clue was so worn off an object it was illegible!! The staff stated this must have happened the day prior, but it was evident the wear on the objects was from repeated use and lack of care when setting up the game. We then realized we had a missing piece to a puzzle in our room, so one of the staff had to stop the game and come into the room to give it to us. Later during our game we came to realize the puzzle we were directed to abandon at the beginning of the game was needed, so we had to go back to the beginning of the room to complete it. We followed instructions, abandoned the puzzle we were working on, and moved forward to another area. Our team solved one of the first puzzles and while we were working on the second puzzle, our game master started redirecting us to a different area. Our 3 person team signed up for the Collision room and upon entering we were very impressed by the look of the room. One gamemaster for 7 complex rooms with faulty equipment would qualify. I know One Way Out wants to be different than your average escape room, but some aspects of "different" aren't always the best. I found out, after we ran out of time, that there was only one gamemaster running all 7 rooms. When 10% of your time is spent waiting on a clue, it's no wonder the escape room is so low. It took at least 5 minutes for the gamemaster to respond to our request for a hint. The biggest complaint about this room was the lack of timely hints. Also, equipment that was vital for the final code didn't seem to work properly. I get it, this is the hardest room at the location, but it didn't necessarily have to be with better time management. Except when there are default lockouts that waste more time. However, leaving the key recovery to chance, time waster. Not the first time in an escape room, probably not the last. I will do my best to not spoil anything about the room in this review. Black Site left a bad taste in our mouths. My wife and I are experienced players and have played most of the rooms at One Way Out. ![]()
